Floral Affair

 Erdem Resort 2013

The first thought that came to my mind upon hearing Erdem launched his third Resort collection was, okay, we're probably going to witness another alluring floral ladylike cocktail dress again. Erdem Moraglioglu or I usually call him the Floral Flair definitely knew how to channel amorous side of him into an array of pleasant floral ensemble. And my previous spontaneous thought was right, he once again mastered his interpretation of the tasteful floral and tweed. It's impeccably harmonized with Venetian blue palette and pink, has well-suited trompe l'oeil effect played on its silhouette and the unmistakably feminine aesthetic with texture and pattern contrast -the mixed tweed and lamé, laminated lace to layered fun collar- that gave this collection more playful contrast and controlled elegance. It's no doubt that Erdem has novel and sweet sense to create poetic drama played in his designs that makes owning one of his dress is in everywoman's must-have items list.

For resort collection, with the cocktail dress as the basic, Erdem then gently added the signature piece with another soft element -lace layered the bodice, cowl collar or incorporated it with raw edge tweed skirt- that gave it more narration. But what's more surprisingly, he also channeled his vision into pantsuits, an exquisite tailored floral pantsuits. It was perfectly done without any exaggerated detail to the silhouette, plainly ravishing.

If you think about buying a new skirt, Erdem has thoughtfully created the classic and beautiful one in various waistlines -from A line to the pencils- with appropriate hemline that will elongate your silhouette. They were reminds me of Julia Stile and Kirsten Dunst in Mona Lisa's Smile, perfectly paired with pastel cardigan over peter pan collared blouse, so chic. But if you probably already planned to spend your holiday to the beach, then I suggest you take a look at the swimsuits. It appears Erdem knew exactly how to create his women to look like a lady at the seashore.
