NAHM Fall - Winter 2012/2013

It's already the third collection for Nary Manivong and Ally Hilfiger who stick together under a quirky and unique brand named NAHM. And it's a YES! for those of you who have noticed Ally's last name and start questioning about her relationship with her BIG last name or maybe even silently googled her with "Ally Hilfiger x Tommy Hilfiger ?" keyword. I'll say it again, Ally is Tommy Hilfiger's daughter. Aside of Ally's father big name, I actually started to notice NAHM since my friend tweeted about their Spring 2012 collection couple months ago and I was intrigued by their pure and innocent collection. Yes, I still remembered the white shirt dresses and also the brick-orange sack dress that reminds me of Flapper Era in 1920's.

Compared to their last spring collection which was pristine and delicate, this time Manivong and Hilfiger tried to put more printed pieces. They chose Egyptian motif as the central striking point of the collection. Although they also still put the flower print on some pieces. They cleverly know how to make the spectators more intrigued by their design and actually they have reached their goal to make everybody talked about their Egyptian inspiration.

The color palette they chose was also made an additional point to bring the more optimistic and modern feel to the collection, although I was kind of confused about their reason when they decided to put flowery background. Is it a camouflage? I found it as a distraction to the printed detail or maybe they wanted to make the audience to take a step closer to enquire about the detail?

The yoked navy blue shirt dress with see-through accent on the bust and peach-y dress that accentuate the H-line silhouette were some of the jolt pieces beside those daring ethereal see-through printed shirt dresses that the duo once again tried to reinvent every season. Is shirt dress going to be NAHM's signature? Or should we expect something new for the next season? We'll just have to wait and see.
