Erdem Fall - Winter 2012/2013
London fashion scenes never dissatisfy its adherents and protégés. Every season London has thrivingly offered us surprising shows by its impressive and captivating talents, and one of the ace talent who keep the ball rolling to give the audience jaw-dropping-moment heritage is Erdem Moralioglu. I've always describe the Canadian born designer masterpieces as Princess' and First Lady's must-have items. From Michelle Obama, Samantha Brown to Claudia Schiffer, his brilliant notion of floral and femininity successfully made a parade of the most influential women fallen in love. Okay, perhaps not only the royalty but everywoman who admire and obsessed with gorgeous dresses to hang up in their ostentatious closet.

Goodbye New York! Hello London! After several absurd, swollen-headed and act-like-fashion-critique posts during New York Fashion Week, I've finally decided to also took some pace to catch a glimpse of what London Fashion Week has to offer (Thank You Live Streaming for saving me from my brainless Press Pass mistake I've made!). And here I am smelling and witnessing the unique, quirky and dare-to-be-different London surprising flair from my computer monitor wearing my 'Dumb Hat' with swollen eyes. Without furtherado, let's start the London Drama!

Asian Domination. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez made those two words successfully engraved in their spectator's heart and buzzed on my ears. This season, the brilliant duo took their astonishment of Japan culture into their collection. Japanese floral motifs they applied in this collection reminds me of "Memoir of Geisha", where the Zhang Zi Yi wore the magnificent tapestry kimono with nature and floral motifs on it. Rich with colors, details and miraculous craftsmanship. Something that you can't compare to anything else. But before you could embrace the 'Geisha' notion, the duo served our hunger with their Asian military imagination first. The strong, tough and heroic mood definitely seen on them. Once again, Lazaro and Hernandez put their the best to made their amazing surreal imagination into reality.

Thakoon show yesterday was one of surprising show during fashion. If you remember this inventive fashion designer previous collection which he created mini dress with modernized silhouette and cutting-edge touch where he also did some experiment with tweed and wool but what I saw yesterday was completely opposite. I saw magenta, orange, black, gradation and weaves. A little black dress with weave detail was the headliner for me. The weaving pattern reminds me of my holiday back in the 90's (yes, it was long ago) where my parents took me to South Beach. We rent a room close to the beach and there was a set of weaved furniture just like what Thakoon applied to his dresses. The weave was strong enough to hold my weight but tends to itchy if you lay down there too long, but it was intriguing when you saw it from a close distance. He also did it too on the back of a camel boxy coat with purple leopard coat. Thakoon revive my silly-billy childhood memory on that weave pieces.

It was all about exquisite tailoring for Rachel Zoe Fall Collection. Even though she was still a newcomer in fashion week, but she unmistakably knew how to indulge the army and seemed like the army were all agreed with here. She essentially already built her clientele long before her debut on fashion week. Her previous blossoming career as fashion stylist-turned-TV personality has gain her popularity and she did not splurge her time, she took a chance to expand. Sounds obsessive? No. I called it Smart (yes, with capital S) and based on this collection, she deserves all the 'Major Bananas'.

The Skin I Live In. Pedro Aldomovar's latter movie that everyone have been talking about during the award season was Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs allusion for their Fall collection. Starred by the handsome latino Antonio Banderas as Dr. Ledgard, an obsessive plastic surgeon who has been haunted by her long lost wife and his dark obsession flourishingly made the provocative dress specialist decide to do some surgeon labor on the fabric to create enchanting dresses.

Rich and Optimistic. There's no preferable word to interpret Christian Cota Fall collection that took Mexican and Aztec motif and prints into a new level. He reportedly did a collaboration with Mexican artist, and as you can see the Mexican vibe felt so irrefutable in his 17 masterstrokes. I must admit that I was quite fastidious when it came to wore printed clothes but after I looked at his master works, he made me want to rushed to the fabric market or vintage market downtown.

It's already the third collection for Nary Manivong and Ally Hilfiger who stick together under a quirky and unique brand named NAHM. And it's a YES! for those of you who have noticed Ally's last name and start questioning about her relationship with her BIG last name or maybe even silently googled her with "Ally Hilfiger x Tommy Hilfiger ?" keyword. I'll say it again, Ally is Tommy Hilfiger's daughter. Aside of Ally's father big name, I actually started to notice NAHM since my friend tweeted about their Spring 2012 collection couple months ago and I was intrigued by their pure and innocent collection. Yes, I still remembered the white shirt dresses and also the brick-orange sack dress that reminds me of Flapper Era in 1920's.

What were the first two words that came across your mind when you heard "Doo.Ri"? Is it "Drape"? "Sophisticated" ? Or maybe "Luxurious Fabric"? If it's one of them then we're on the same page adoring Doo-Ri Chung did all her magical things as she found her way to discover fascinating and sophisticated clothes for every woman in this world so they could feel so glorified to be born in this 'lavish' world. And for this season, she continued her journey to a fantasy "Drapery" land.

I always have a big space in my tiny little brain for beautiful and stunning dresses to memorized and obsessed by their essence to make women look and feel like they are the most exquisite creature in the world. Sometimes I don't really care if it was a repetition from last season, or maybe looks like other designer's collection. A beautiful dress is a beautiful dress, that's it. Luckily, I still have a chance to feel that ecstatic feeling that I want to keep it forever by looking at Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2012 collection.
